You walk into the gym, grab the same weight you used last week, and go straight into your first set. Or maybe you spend five minutes doing static stretches off in a corner, with no connection to what you're about to train. Either way, the warm-up has become an empty ritual — something done out of habit or skipped out of a rush, without anyone really understanding what it's for. The problem with a generic warm-up

It's worth logging your warm-up as part of the workout in your training diary or app, instead of treating it as a side detail. When you look back and see a run of complete sessions — warm-up included — it's much easier to spot the days you skipped that step and connect them to days of worse performance or unusual soreness afterward. That connection only shows up when there's a consistent log to compare against, not in the loose memory of any single session.
